LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Ever since I laid my eyes on Jaclyn’s half cotton and half lace leggings, I’ve been on a mission for some two tone action myself!  With my huntress senses heightened, I was on the prowl and searched everywhere to find something similar, but no cigar.  That is until last week when I visited my local Goodwill (Beverly Blvd. & Fairfax Ave.) and casually browsed the “pants” section.  As I gazed through all the black pairs, a hint of mesh caught my eye.  I immediately took it off the rack, and lo and behold, it was THE MOST PERFECT pair of leggings ever.  My heart must’ve skipped a beat because I felt short of breath – yes, it was that good!  The front is made of a sheer black mesh material and the back is a solid black lycra. It fit perfectly and for $8.99 (kinda steep for Goodwill!), I still didn’t hesitate to run to the cashier!

P.S. LnA does a good lace/lycra leggings combo.. in case you’re hunting too!

HOOKED ON VINTAGE

Since our reunion, it’s been serious Jac + Raissa QUALITY TIME.  We’ve dined out, drank cocktails (lots of them!), and of course, raided each others closets and suitcases to share our latest vintage finds with each other!  The conversation that follows typically goes something like this:

“Where’d you get that?

“For how much?”

“Duuuude, SERIOUS!?”

You see, we don’t really need to use a lot of words when we’re together.  Mostly we communicate through a series of wild hand gestures and facial expressions!  HAHA!  As we roamed the streets of the Lower East Side this past weekend, we’ve been putting our favorite vintage finds to good use…

Actually, make that HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HOUR!  Dudes.  We are having just waaaay too much fun out here!  Hahaha!  Seriously, since Raissa’s arrival we’ve been talking and laughing non-stop.  And we talk and laugh LOUD.  Sorry neighbors!  Since most of our conversations end up with us yelling at each other (in a good way!), tonight we decided to take it outside and check out the local bar scene.  It’s an early start to an evening that’s sure to get a little crazy so grabbing some bar food and some beers was totally necessary.  Thursday is the new Friday, right!?  Let the weekend begin!!!

TRIED AND TESTED

While Raissa’s doing her thing BIG in Vegas, I’ll be on a business trip too.  To Orlando.  Womp womp wooomp!  Haha, I’m actually at the airport right now as I type this.  I’ll be gone for a WHOLE 5 DAYS and am bummed I have to be away from my hubby and home for so long.  So yesterday, it being my last night in town and all, my man and I went out for a night cap at Tapeo 29 and took the long way home.  It was actually the first evening that it’s been chilly out all summer long so I jumped at the chance to test out what will pretty much be my upcoming Fall uniform:  vintage high waist leggings + loose fitting top + blazer.  check  check and check!    I found so many of these items throughout all my weekly flea market excursions that I’ve pretty much stockpiled a whole new wardrobe for myself.  Ah, come to mama Fall, I am SOOOOO ready for you!

Last Friday, after a super rough week, spending an evening watching ballet under the stars sounded heavenly.  My good friend Mike and his kids are in town so while they’re here we’ve been doing all sorts of fun kid-friendly things like checking out SummerStage.  It was such a beautiful show, I wish they allowed pics!  I wanted to dress up a little…since it was ballet afterall…and broke out my vintage floral denim mini skirt I scored on eBay for $7.33 (with shipping!!).  Best deal ever!! I also dusted off my quilted leather platform booties I got during one of those Victoria’s Secret extra 40% off clearance sales because they’re badass, super sturdy and I knew we’d be pounding the pavement uptown.  THIS CITY EATS SHOES, so wearing footwear that can give as good as it gets is ultra key.  Ah, what a great PG rated night!  Now I know what it feels like to get to bed at a decent hour, wake up without a headache, and start your day..well, in the DAY.  I think I could get used to this!
