Hey hey hey!! It’s a @$#!-ing miracle.  I actually got out of work today in time to enjoy a perfectly balmy weeknight out with a friend.  Since I have to get up early tomorrow, I had to give myself a midnight curfew and picked a place really close to my house for our night out.  Fat Hippo is among one of the newest bars/restaurants in my hood and is really becoming my go-to-spot when I’m looking for a place that’s a step up from your average dive.  They have super cute bartenders and the super cutest mini sliders EVER!  It’s literally crawling distance from my apartment so I ran home after work and quickly gave my outfit a nighttime makeover by taking off the tank top I wore under my t-shirt.  That was fast and easy!

Ahem, I’m also very proud to say that I made the very wise and mature decision to only have ONE dirty martini.  Ah, 11:58pm EST and I’m at home signing off.  Hope you all have a good night!

Raissa, New York

It’s time for me to say good bye to New York.  To pay homage to one of my most favorite cities ever, I wanted to share some new, and old, places that represent the New York that I’ve come to know and love.. over and over again.  Here’s to the city that never sleeps and who also happens to have some of the world’s best fashion, food, and culture.

Lower East Side (Clinton & Rivington pictured below): Jac and our friends all live in this area, so I’m a little biased!  But, everytime I’m in the LES, there’s always something new, exciting and inspiring about this neighborhood.  Plus, the neighborhood also happens to have my favorite brunch place Shopsin’s, located inside the Essex Street Market.  Seriously, hands down, the BEST brunch ever.  That’s right, I said it…BEST!  Next time you’re in NYC, you HAVE to eat there.

Tacos:  Yes…in the City!?  Shocking, right?  Well, I had the carnitas taco from La Esquina (in Soho) and it tasted almost as good as L.A. tacos.  They were delicious, tender and the service was quick and easy.  YUM, a must try!

Eye Candy:  Beautiful, impecabbly dressed girls (and guys!) are everywhere in the City.  But, this time around, I spotted so many gorgeous girls in SoHo that I didn’t know where to turn!  I had to stop myself every few steps to snap away.

New York, tried. tested. and time and time again, it never disappoints.  Til’ next time NYC!

Raissa and Jaclyn, New York

As our days together wind down, we’ve continued to do one of our favorite things -  SHARE goodies!  Take for instance a few days ago when we spent another afternoon picking through mountains (i mean that literally people, LITERALLY!) of Jac’s clothes and shoes.  We found one thing after the other that was not getting its fair share of much deserved play time.  I couldn’t stand by and let this happen any longer!  Especially to two things that I have to give a special shout out to that she’s never worn:  Her amazing ASOS shoes and her vintage bright green Levi’s shorts with the cutest back pocket zippers.

Actually, pretty much everything we’re wearing was FOUND in Jac’s pile of craziness and deserves a shout out…it’s all just TOO GOOD to be kept in the dark.  I’m so glad I came to New York to help rescue these gems.  Welcome back to the light of day guys!

Since our reunion, it’s been serious Jac + Raissa QUALITY TIME.  We’ve dined out, drank cocktails (lots of them!), and of course, raided each others closets and suitcases to share our latest vintage finds with each other!  The conversation that follows typically goes something like this:

“Where’d you get that?

“For how much?”

“Duuuude, SERIOUS!?”

You see, we don’t really need to use a lot of words when we’re together.  Mostly we communicate through a series of wild hand gestures and facial expressions!  HAHA!  As we roamed the streets of the Lower East Side this past weekend, we’ve been putting our favorite vintage finds to good use…
