Mix it up this season and try adding a tribal print into your endless repertoire of Spring florals!  We seem to come across these warrior-esque wonders so frequently when we’re out thrifting that we are almost inclined to think people might be a little scared to give them a go.  And it’s not that we don’t looove having easy access to such a fun find, but we just can’t understand why anyone would want to leave these unique little numbers behind!  But hey, hard as it may be for us to believe, we also know that scavenging a thrift store or flea market isn’t for everyone so we did a thorough cyberspace search to find the very best new versions of this wild printed bunch.  We are happy to report that our cybersearch proved to be a success and lots of great tribal alternatives are on the loose.  Enjoy the hunt!

We like to think of ourselves as vintage shopping professionals.  And seriously, when you put in as many hours as we have hunting, obsessing, and bagging everything vintage, it does seem like a completely apropos title.  So as pros, going to a flea market or thrift store and seeing big shoulder pads on dresses, jackets, and tops from the 80′s and 90′s is a totally expected occurrence.  But no matter how many strong shouldered silhouettes we come across, we can’t help but be completely fascinated by them.  You see, we have vivid memories of our mothers going off to work in fully padded POWER suits and therefore, have nothing but respect for this once shunned style statement.  Not only that, but shoulder pads are also just plain FUN!  Admittedly, sometimes they can be a little too much to pull off, but once you do find the perfect padding for your frame your look can quickly become a great balance of yesterday’s vintage and today’s Balmain – YUM YUM!

YES, Thanksgiving is here!  We can’t wait for the turkey, pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and all the other GOODNESS on the dinner table!  This year Jac is staying put in New York and celebrating with friends and I’m visiting family at my sister’s house.  We wanted to feature two outfits that were equally appropriate for both celebrations.  Since Jaclyn will be with friends, she can and will be as sassy as she wants to be and wear what she likes. (LUCKY LADY!)  On the other hand, I will be with my family, which is super great, but there’s a slight problemo - they’re fashionably conservative…especially my Dad.  Not wanting to get the crazy stares from across the table, I have to tone down my leopard, mini skirt wearing ways and settle for something that’s sassy but still fam bam friendly.  Here’s what we plan to wear to our Thanksgiving festivities…

We love ourselves some FUR.  But hold the paint PETA!  Hear us out.  Since we’ve recently been spotting every celeb/model/hottie wearing it out just as much as we do, we thought we’d investigate where to find the best of the best in fur… faux fur that is!  But we’re not gonna lie.  We do own some real fur pieces, but they’re ALL vintage.  Why does that matter?  Because vintage means it’s old and was probably gonna get thrown out anyways.  So technically, we saved it!  Don’t you just love the circle of life?!  Mark our words though, any fur we purchase that’s deemed “brand new” will always be faux.  You can quote us on that! We scoured the internet and found some to die for…oops…we mean killer…yikes…let’s just say AMAZING, coats.  Now, L.A just needs to cooperate and get as cold as NYC…

What’s that you ask?  Another new category?  Why, YES!  We’ve been getting asked more frequently by our fellow obsessionistas about where we get our vintage goods.  Unfortunately, even when these lovely ladies go to our suggested spots, it’s not always guaranteed that they’ll have the best vintage luck – trust us, we so know how that feels!  It’s a downright CRIME that more vintage hasn’t survived past their decades.  So we created CLOSET CONFIDENTIAL to help make all our lives a little easier – when we see vintage we LOVE, we’ll instantly put an APB out on the World Wide Web to track down some NEW and awesome alternatives!

For our first edition, we’re featuring the gotta have it jumpsuit!  Here are a couple of favorites we dug out of our closets…but don’t worry, we found so many other cute ones online too!  Just take a look…
